Privacy Policy — Force Me To Learn Languages

Force Me To Learn Languages ("the Extension", "we", "us") is a Chrome extension that helps you learn a language by translating parts of the web pages you read into your chosen study language and by explaining words you double-click. This policy explains what data the Extension processes and why.

What the Extension processes

• Web page text you view with the feature enabled. When translation is turned on, portions of the text on the page you are viewing are sent to our backend to be translated into your study language. When you double-click a translated word, that word and its surrounding sentence are sent to generate an explanation and example sentences.
• Settings. Your chosen study language, native language, intensity, and on/off state are stored in your browser (Chrome storage).
• A random device identifier. A randomly generated ID is stored in your browser and sent with requests so we can apply free-trial and daily usage limits. It is not linked to your name, email, or any personal account.
• License key (subscribers only). If you subscribe, the license key you enter is sent to validate your subscription.

We do not collect your name, email, browsing history, or create an account inside the Extension. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.

Service providers we share data with

To provide translations and explanations, the page text and data above are processed by the following providers, acting on our behalf:

• Cloudflare — hosts our backend (proxy and cache). Privacy policy
• Groq — AI model provider used for free-tier translations and explanations. Privacy policy
• Google (Gemini API) — AI model provider used for subscribers' translations and explanations. Privacy policy
• Lemon Squeezy — payment processing and subscription/license validation. Privacy policy

These providers process the data only to perform translation, explanation, hosting, or payment functions for us.

Because page text is transmitted to these providers for translation, please avoid using the translation feature on pages containing information you do not wish to send.

Data retention

• Translations and explanations may be cached on Cloudflare for up to 90 days (keyed by a hash of the text) to improve speed and reduce cost. This cache is not linked to your identity.
• Usage counters tied to your random device identifier are kept only as needed to enforce trial and daily limits, and expire automatically.
• Settings remain in your browser until you change them or uninstall the Extension.

Payments

Payments and subscription management are handled by Lemon Squeezy. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. API keys for the AI providers are kept on our server and are never exposed inside the Extension.

Children

The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will change accordingly, and material changes will be reflected on this page.
